Twelfth Night - 1994
Here, in Illyria, on Florida's Gold Coast amidst the yuppies, latinos and burned out hippies, Duke Orsino, a powerful club owner (with connections to the mob) sends messages of adoration to Lady Olivia, who rejects them - having sworn to mourn the death of her father and brother, in retreat at a new age spa. She keeps company with Feste (and aged 60's philosopher), Malvolio (her steward and private masseur), and Maria (her personal secretary). Also residing at the spa is Olivia's drunken uncle, Sir Toby Belch, and his foolish friend, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, who has designs on Olivia.
Into this chaotic world enters Viola, who has been saved from an accident which she believes killed her twin brother, Sebastian. She disguises herself as a young man, Cesario, and finds employment with the Duke with whom she promptly falls in love. The Duke sends Cesario to declare his love for the lady Olivia, who then falls in love with Cesario (our Viola). Meanwhile, her brother Sebastien is alive, believing the accident killed his twin sister Viola. He seeks his fortune with Antonio, who saved his life.
Back at the spa, a practical joke is plotted against the prudish Malcolio by Maria, Toby, Andrew and Fabian. The joke eventually convinces Olivia that Malvolio has lost his mind. Sebastien finally arrives in Illyria and mistaken identities abound until finally the twins meet, and all is revealed. All are satisfied... all, except Malvolio.
