Taming of the Shrew - 1996
Petrucio presents himself as a suitor to Kate and finds himself in a battle of wits with the 'shrew'. Undeterred, he sets a marriage date a few days away. Much to Kate's vexation Baptista agrees to the proposal. Petruchio carries the unwilling Kate away to his country house where he attempts to 'tame' her. Afterwards, they return to the city.
Back in Padua, Hortensio has been discouraged and gone off to marry a rich widow. Lucentio's servants produce an imposter to play Lucentio's father to vouch for Bianca's dowry. Lucentio's real father arrives in Padua looking for his son. The deception revealed, Baptista is outraged. His anger is assuaged by assurances that all was done for love. Soon, all the marriages are celebrated. At the celebration Petruchio wins a wager as to who has the most obedient wife, vindicating his 'taming of the shrew'.
