About Repercussion

Set in the comic book world of gangsters, newsboys and femmes fatales, we meet Egeon who is about to be "offed" by Duke Solonius for his heinous crime of being Syracusian in the shady-dealing country of Ephesus.  A tale of woe is told involving Egeon's wife, twin sons and their twin servants, who were all separated from him in a shipwreck.  Duke Solonius gives Egeon a four hour reprieve to find a thousand marks and a ransom for his life. 

Unknown to Egeon, his sons are in Ephesus.  Antipholus and Dromio of Syracuse are journeying to Ephesus in search of their long-lost brothers and are mistaken for their twins. 

Confusion ensues when business deals are executed with the wrong Antipholus; placing chains, ropes, rings and bags of money in the wrong hands.  Things really get out of control when Antipholus of Syracuse accompanies Adriana (the wife of Antipholus of Ephesus) to dinner, and he falls in love with her puritanical sister Luciana.  By 9 PM, the town is in an uproar: Antipholus of Syracuse believes he is surrounded by witches, everyone else believes Antipholus of Ephesus is insane, and neither of the two Dromios can do anything right. 

All is resolved, however, when Egeon (unable to collect his ransom) is brought to the gallows to forfeit his life.  There, he recognizes not only his son and servant, but also his wife Aemilia, the Abbess of Ephesus, who gave refuge to Antipholus and Dromio of Syracuse from the turmoil created by their mistaken identities.

Peace is restored, property is returned to its rightful owners, and a family is reunited.  A party ensues.  All is well.
