Repercussion Theatre launches its 19th season of the Theatre in the Parks festival
Repercussion Theatre returns to the parks this summer with its very first venture into the hilarious world of Molière. This year, Repercussion Theatre presents Molière's Scapin: The Schemer in an adapted English version and Les fourberies de Scapin in an adapted French version. A unique experience in Montreal, this Theatre in the Parks production will present twenty shows in English and nine in French all performed by the same cast.
Amanda Kellock will be directing this year's production for the first time with Repercussion Theatre. Amanda, a veteran of the company, has performed in Midsummer Night's Dream in 2004 and 2005 and in Much Ado About Nothing in 2006. "I am very happy and proud to be working again with Repercussion Theatre, as director this time - and first female director in the company's history," she said.
Repercussion Theatre presented its first Shakespeare-in-the-Park festival in the summer of 1988. A dedicated group presented four performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream to 800 people. Only a decade later, the company had quickly grown, playing in front of 45 000 spectators in Canada and the United States.
Repercussion Theatre's mandate is to deliver professional, classically-based, visually dynamic theatre accessible to all, regardless of income, culture, language, age or education. The company brings the performing arts to people in their communities - reaching new audiences and inspiring in them a lifelong love of theatre.
