Repercussion Theatre presents Shakespeare's The Tempest / La tempête as part of its Theatre in the Parks / Théâtre en plein air tour
Repercussion Theatre is proud to announce that it will tour The Tempest / La Tempête by William Shakespeare from July 22 to August 17, 2008 in parks across the Greater Montreal area. The shows, presented in English and French, are part of the bilingual programming for the 20th anniversary of Theatre in the Parks / Théâtre en plein air.
Paul Hopkins, Repercussion Theatre’s Artistic Director and Arianna Bardesono, who recently directed Les mondes possibles (Théâtre Quat’Sous), will be directing. As well, Greg Kramer, who played for some of Canada’s greatest theatre companies and on screen in acclaimed films such as I’m Not There, 300 and The Day After Tomorrow, will play Prospero in the English version. François Trudel, who is well-known to French audiences by his work on TV series such as Virginie, Minuit le soir and Annie et ses hommes, will play Prospéro in the French version.
Repercussion Theatre presented its first Shakespeare-in-the-Park festival in the summer of 1988. A dedicated group of young thespians presented four performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to 800 people. Only a decade later, the company had grown exponentially, drawing a total of 45 000 spectators in Canada and the United States in 1998.
Repercussion Theatre’s mandate is to deliver professional, classically-based, visually dynamic theatre accessible to all, regardless of income, culture, language, age or education. The company brings the performing arts to people in their communities – reaching new audiences and inspiring in them a lifelong love of theatre.
