Repercussion Theatre launches its 20th Anniversary Fundraising Campaign
This season, Repercussion Theatre will celebrate its 20th anniversary with its most ambitious program ever – one that reflects the company’s core mission to present its unique Montreal brand of free professional outdoor theatre to diverse communities across the Montreal region in English and in French. As always, this year’s productions will give valuable professional theatre experience to over fifty young artists, designers and technicians.
Known primarily for its summer Theatre in the Parks / Théâtre en plein air tour, Repercussion Theatre, now offers classical theatre productions year-round along with acting classes, educational outreach, and professional workshops.
Repercussion Theatre is a not-for-profit organization that survives on the generosity of public and private supporters. That the company is celebrating its 20th anniversary in such spectacular fashion, speaks volumes to the place this cultural icon holds in the city. To make this bold season a reality, the company has launched a funding appeal to raise $150,000.
Shakespeare Unplugged at the Atwater Library
The 20th season kicks off with a special two-week run of Shakespeare Unplugged at the Atwater Library in April. This extraordinary production features two actors, one bare space, and Shakespeare’s most intuitive and audacious texts. This is theatre in its purest, most visceral form – a joy for audiences and a true test for actors.
Fundraising target: $ 20,000
Les Fourberies de Scapin / Scapin the Schemer at Montreal's Old Port
It wouldn’t be summer in Montreal without Repercussion Theatre performing outdoors. The Theatre in the Parks / Théâtre en plein air festival tour will feature a special three-week engagement of last year's award-winning English and French productions of Molière's Les fourberies de Scapin / Scapin: The Schemer at the Quays of the Old Port of Montreal. Thanks to its popularity with audiences, the Society of the Quays of the Old Port of Montreal has asked Repercussion Theatre to re-mount the play with the cast that enchanted audiences across the city last summer.
Fundraising target: $ 70,000
The Tempest / La Tempête in parks around Montreal
William Shakespeare's most theatrical play, The Tempest, will complete the 20th anniversary season. This classic will include over 25 performances, in English and French, in parks throughout the greater Montreal region.
Fundraising target: $ 60,000
With over 60 performances scheduled, approximately 30,000 fans will enjoy Repercussion Theatre productions this season, representing the largest local tour in the company's history.
